How value moves through PLAIT: membership, Prosper, Pour In, and how the ecosystem stays mission-aligned.
Value exchange, not extraction. PLAIT is funded by its members rather than by venture capital. No ads, no algorithms, no upsells.
Membership
PLAIT membership is simple and transparent:
- $20/month, one membership. There are no tiers and no premium features.
- Membership enables participation. Members use the Context System, make Connections, take part in Pods, keep a Prosper Site, offer events, appointments and downloads, and earn through Prosper when their sharing or introductions create value.
- A free PLAIT Account can subscribe, buy, book, attend, comment and Pour In wherever that is open. It does not create offers or earn through Prosper.
- Cancel anytime. No contracts, no penalties.
If your membership lapses, your data remains yours and is not deleted; access to member features is described by the membership terms.
Prosper: where value moves
Prosper is the value layer of PLAIT. Members put something into the world — an event, an hour of their time, a resource — and value can come back. Membership enables participation; Stripe enables money moving. Anyone — guest, free account or member — may book, buy from or Pour Into a member.
Fees & payments
The owner receives 90% of every sale and every Pour In. PLAIT keeps 10%, and card processing comes out of PLAIT's 10%. The fee is shown before a member publishes an offer and before anyone pays — never discovered afterward.
- Paid items start at $5.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. PLAIT never stores card numbers.
- Owners set their own prices and are responsible for their own taxes.
- To be paid, a member turns on Prosper payouts (Stripe handles payout setup securely).
When your sharing or introductions create value
Some value comes from participation rather than ownership. Any reward for it comes from PLAIT's side of the economics — never from the owner's 90%.
- Introductions. When someone joins PLAIT through a member's link and stays a paying member for a period of time, the member who introduced them receives a one-time $10 reward from PLAIT. One introduction, one reward. Free accounts do not earn it, and there are no levels: nothing is paid for the people your introductions introduce.
- Shares. When a member shares another member's offer and a purchase comes through that share, the member who shared receives part of PLAIT's own margin on the sale, after card processing. On small sales this is small, and on the smallest sales there is none.
- Connections are never rewarded. Connecting with someone earns nothing, so nobody has a reason to connect except to know them.
Pending, available, paid
- Pending — the value exists but has not settled yet (for example, until an event has happened or an introduced member has stayed).
- Available — it is yours. If your payouts are not on yet, it waits for you.
- Paid — sent to your payouts account. PLAIT sends what it owes weekly once it reaches $10.
- Reversed — the purchase was refunded or disputed, or the introduced membership ended before it settled.
Sales and Pour Ins reach the owner's payouts account when the payment is made; Stripe pays them out on the owner's schedule.
Refunds & disputes
- Owners can refund a payment in full or in part. A refund returns the owner's share and PLAIT's share in proportion; card processing is not returned by Stripe and is PLAIT's cost.
- Contact the owner first with a concern. If it stays unresolved, write to PLAIT: disputes are reviewed by the team.
- If a payment is disputed with a bank, the owner's share is held back while the dispute is open and returned if it is resolved in the owner's favor.
Pour In
Pour In is voluntary appreciation: someone received value from what a member — or PLAIT — has put into the world and pours something back in. It is not a donation, not tax-deductible, not a purchase and not membership. It never subscribes, connects or grants access to anything.
- Pouring into a member: the member receives 90%, like a sale.
- Pouring into PLAIT: PLAIT Technologies LLC is a company, not a charity. It goes to the work of building PLAIT.
Sessions & pricing
How Sessions, PLAI-Dates, and bookable events are priced:
- PLAIT-run Sessions are included with membership.
- Partner-run Sessions — partners choose the pricing: free, ticketed, or member-included.
- PLAI-Dates are usually free or low-cost, and may be sponsored.
- Bookable events — pricing is set by the organizer and clearly communicated.
Organizations can partner with PLAIT to underwrite access, PLAIT Kids and Sessions. Partners never gain governance or special features. See Governance and Partnerships.
Offering through Prosper
- Accurate descriptions: what you offer matches what you deliver.
- Clear pricing: no hidden fees or surprise charges.
- Honest claims: no misleading promises or guarantees.
- Responsive communication: answer questions from the people who book or buy.
- Delivery commitment: deliver within the time you stated.
No extractive incentives
PLAIT's economic model is designed to avoid the traps of extractive business models:
- No ads: you are not the product
- No algorithms: we don't manipulate your attention
- No data sales: your information stays yours
- No upsells: all features included, no premium tier
- No engagement metrics: we don't optimize for how long you stay
- No multi-level rewards: one introduction, one reward, never a cut of anyone's later activity
