What is PLAIT?
The canonical one-page introduction: the definition, the acronym, the braid, the three strands, and the four connected layers.
PLAIT is a philosophy, framework, and practice for creating and working within intentional context.
PLAIT means PolyLinear Application of Information Technology. The name reflects a simple idea: life rarely moves along one line. Work, relationships, responsibilities, ideas, opportunities, and change overlap — and each can affect the others.
The braid
A plait is also a braid. That metaphor is expressed through the three strands of the PLAIT Framework:
| Strand | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Flow | How you move. |
| Tribe | Who you move with. |
| Prosper | What grows from that movement. |
PLAIT does not try to prescribe one perfect productivity system or tell someone what should matter. It provides a way to bring enough context into view to understand where you are, recognize what is becoming significant, and move intentionally.
Four connected layers
The philosophy becomes usable through four connected layers:
Philosophy → Framework → Practice → Context System
The Practice can live anywhere: on paper, in a calendar, in a conversation, with AI, inside tools you already use, or within software designed around PLAIT itself.
The PLAIT Context System is that native digital environment. It is a First-Person Context System built so Flow, Tribe, Prosper, and the contexts connecting them can remain related rather than being scattered across disconnected tools.
The app supports PLAIT. It is not PLAIT itself.
Practicing and joining
Anyone can learn and practice PLAIT. People who want deeper participation can join PLAIT and become members, gaining access to the native Context System, shared resources, recurring sessions and experiences, and opportunities to create, host, contribute, and help shape the wider ecosystem.
Recurring sessions and member-led experiences are being developed; what membership includes today is stated on the Join page.
Flow. Tribe. Prosper.
Different strands. One context.
Life. Braided Better.
